About Our Team
"Experience Isn't Expensive...It's Priceless"
- Jim has been a mover and a shaker since his birth. He started in the Southern part of the country and migrated to California. Once he got there, he stayed. Jim started his career in the corrugated box business and stayed there until the real estate bug bit him hard several years ago.
Jim has been a real estate broker and investor since 1981. At first, he was a dabbler, now he is committed to the profession full time.
Jim is the visionary who founded Smith Real Estate Services, Inc. His dream was to present an alternative to sellers of real estate. Whether you are an individual or an institutional property owner, you deserve a professional alternative for the disposition of your real estate.
Jim hand built this team to provide the level of service that he would expect but found consitantly lacking in most Realtors on his transactions. Jim consistantly seeks to improve on the systems already in place to provide a peak experience for his clients so they come back again and again.
Jim loves golf, happy hours, fine dining and travel, though his job keeps him from doing any of these things as often as he would like. When he travels, he has a knack for finding the types of restaurants and bars he likes. He may seem reserved but Jim is a real treat to be around.
- Sheryl moved to the Sacramento region in 1996 from Long Beach, CA. She's lived in Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova and El Dorado Hills so she knows these areas particularly well. She joined the REO branch of Smith Real Estate Services, Inc. in 2008 to run the operations and work with buyers. Prior to that, Sheryl was, and still is, a commercial real estate broker since 2004. Her transactions include retail, office and land sales as well as retail, office and industrial leasing.
Her quest for knowledge includes earning the CCIM designation, which is considered the MBA of commercial real estate early in her commercial brokerage career. She achieved both the PSC (Pre-Foreclosure Certification) and CDPE (Certified Distressed Property Expert) in order to more effectively help sellers understand their options when faced with a property that is worth less than the current mortgage.
Sheryl has the gift of making the complex simple so she is particularly adept as helping buyers understand how to realize their dream of home ownership in this market of bank owned homes and short sales.
For fun, Sheryl's passions are wine-tasting and travel. In fact, decisions on where to travel are often based on if there is a wine region nearby. So far, she's been to Spain, Italy and Greece. In the United States, she's been to most of the wine regions in California as well as Walla Walla in Washington and the Williamette Valley in Oregon.
